Courses & Services in Glamorgan

Czech

Beginner, Elementary, Intermediate, Conversation

One-to-One Tuition: £20 per hour

Small Group Tuition: £40 per hour

Courses focus on practical Czech and communication skills. I use the 'New Czech Step by Step' coursebook which I find provides a comprehensive introduction to grammar and vocabulary and allows students to use Czech in everyday situations.

The course is also supplemented with my own materials so it can be tailored to your learning style and ability.

Whatever your reasons for learning Czech, you will find as with any other foreign language, it can be a very rewarding experience.

ESL (English as a Second Language)

Beginner, False Beginner, Elementary, Pre-intermediate

One-to-One Tuition: £15 per hour

Small Group Tuition: £30 per hour

Courses focus on the use of the English language in everyday situations. I use the 'New Headway' coursebook series as it's suitable for young adults and older students and offers a step-by-step approach to grammar and vocabulary. The lessons feature useful situational and survival work with emphasis placed on communication.

Reading, writing, speaking and listening skills are all developed.

I also use my own resources to target problem learning areas and reinforce lessons helping you immediately build on your current knowledge.

About Me

My name is Katerina (Kate for short). I am orginally from a city called Ostrava which is in the east of the Czech Republic close to the Polish border but I moved to South Wales last summer. I now live in Port Talbot with my long-term Welsh partner and our daughter.

I've been teaching English as a second language for over seven years. I worked for a private language agency in Ostrava and during that time taught students from beginner to pre-intermediate level. I have good experience with one-to-one, small and large groups and company courses.

I've also taught Czech language courses to British and Americans working in Ostrava which was challenging (teaching English is much easier) but I must admit rewarding and a lot of fun.

Things I love about Wales? Crispy bacon and lavabread, lemon cheesecake, a good Sunday roast with Yorkshire pudding, the friendly attitude of people I meet and of course the fantastic coastline. I hope to introduce you to my home country in the blog where I will be posting photos of Czech, snippets of Czech current affairs and Czech recipes ... everything and anything that takes my fancy.
